Literature, Market Development Comments (0)
The World Economic Outlook (WEO), which presents the International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) analysis and projections of economic development at the global level, is published in April and October each year with periodic updates. The October 2008 issue also covers:
- effects of the surge in food and fuel prices under way since 2004, which has propelled inflation to levels not seen in a decade,
- connections between financial stress and economic downturns, particularly stress rooted in the banking sector (see sample chapter [pdf-File, 919 KB]) and
- risks faced by countries with sustained large current account deficits, such as those in emerging Europe, if global deleveraging contracts the availability of external financing.
The WEO is available as paperback in English, French, Spanish and Arabic and can be purchased at the online bookstore of the IMF as paperback (Price: $108.00).
